Department of Computer Science and Engineering
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering has a team of highly qualified, experienced and dedicated faculties to impart technical education. It has well equipped laboratories with all the required equipment and software for smooth running of the practical courses for the students. The department has broadband internet connectivity which enables e-learning facility. Internet connectivity provides an easy way for the students to enhance their knowledge.
The department caters to the latest requirements and demands of the industry for technically sound manpower in the IT sectors. The Department strives to train students in the Computer Science & Engineering as well as application of these scientific methods to conceive, organize and carry out scientific design of engineering system and to acquire hands on practical exposure in their chosen field of study.
With a need to supplement and support, the students and faculty with knowledge resources to keep themselves abreast of thoughts and latest developments in the corporate fields, a vast database of information in the form of periodicals, journals, CDs, magazines, technical reports and books in the central as well as departmental library. Our central library named as Lakshminath Bezboruah Library rated among the best libraries in Assam, has about 2,00,000 books that deals with various aspects and intricacies of technology. The students are initiated at the beginning of the academic session through lecture-cum practical instruction to locate reading materials. To keep with the era of information explosion the University authority has decided to go for full automation of the Library with networking facilities. Retrospective databases for Books, Periodicals (back-volumes) as well as thesis & Dissertations have already been developed.
The circulation system has been fully computerized by using ‘SOUL’ software. The Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) is working since January 2003. The Library provides access to e-Journals under Infonet-e-Journal consortium. The INFLIBNET (Information and Library Network) sponsored project provides full-text access to scholarly Journals and archival access to back volumes. The facility started from January 1st, 2004 provides access to around 4700 e-Journals . Besides that, we have our own departmental library where along with the books related to academics, books with information of latest technology are also present.
